Dakota Ford is a senior at the University of Chicago where he pursues a double major in Economics and Romance Languages and Literatures. Fluent in English, Portuguese, French and Spanish, Dakota Ford has pursued professional and volunteer opportunities around the world that combine his interest in financial markets with his passion for foreign languages and cultures.

Distinguishing himself academically, Mr. Ford maintained a place on UChicago's Dean’s List and earned a Dean’s Scholarship alongside his initial acceptance letter due to promising performance in high school. During the summer of 2014 Dakota traveled to Morocco's French speaking capital Rabat, where he worked for study abroad company Lankey. This then-startup provided full language immersion programs in French and Moroccan Arabic via a host-family living arrangement paired with a rigorous academic schedule. Dakota's contribution as a business development intern with Lankey consisted of expanding the French curriculum in coordination with local universities and creating a new company website. In the summer of 2015, Dakota served as a market research summer intern at microfinance conglomerate Gentera SAB de CV in Mexico City. There, he developed methods for Gentera to market its services to Mexican nationals living in the United States through community centers, religious organizations and Mexican consulates. In the winter academic quarter of that following school year Dakota worked as a research assistant at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His duties primarily consisted of performing market research on the digital marketing practices of biopharmaceutical companies in Spain. This research assisted a team of MBA candidates in developing a 3-5 year digital marketing strategy in the EU5 for bio-pharma company AbbVie. In the summer of 2016, Dakota interned as an investment banking summer analyst at Marathon Capital in Chicago. Alongside standard analyst duties such as financial modeling and compiling pitchbooks, Dakota conducted an independent research project that served to determine Marathon Capital’s market share of the industry for sell-side renewable asset advisory. The project studied the firm's current presence and potential opportunities in the US and Canada, Latin America and Europe. Alongside a professional interest in finance and international markets, Dakota has also volunteered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the later summer of 2016 he spent a month in Rio's Rocinha Favela teaching mathematics to middle school students and profession-oriented English to adults.
